Everything can change in an instant. Just ask Tim Shaffer. One moment he is fighting to get around leader Tim Kaeding, the next moment Shaffer is taking the checkered flag.

With five laps to go in the main event, Kaeding was in control of the field, leading the rest through traffic at over 100 mph. Suddenly, the lapped car of Brian Coelho moved in front of him, and it was over. Kaeding's car made contact with Coelho and flipped. Shaffer was on Kaeding's tail, and suffered some minor damage to the front wing, but escaped with the lead.

The win was an ironic turn of events as Kaeding actually was in the ride that Shaffer had held the year before. Shaffer had left mid-season to take a ride from owner Lonny Parsons and Kaeding took over for Roth Motorsports.

Shaffer had his fair share of breaks too. Starting 4th, Shaffer had moved as high as 2nd but was passed by Paul McMahan on lap 10 with Jason Meyers hot on his tail. McMahan wouldn't hold his position long as he was involved in an accident with the lapped car of Sean Becker. Shaffer took advantage and pressed the leader, Kaeding, with top qualifier Schatz pressing in 3rd. By lap 29 the three lead cars were negotiating heavy traffic when Kaeding unfortunate event took place. Dennis Moore Jr had made a fantastic run, working his way from 14th place to a 3rd place overall. Steve Kinser surged into 4th while Jason Solwold took 5th place.
