Postby acegear » Mon Oct 25, 2004 8:32 pm

NASCAR's Craftsman Truck Series was introduced in late 1994 with the first race being held in 1995. The 20 race series has evolved into a 25 race series that visits all the major tracks in the NASCAR sytem. By 2001, Craftsman Trucks had surpassed the viewership of CART with over 10 million TV viewers.

NASCAR trucks are full size trucks equiped with 5.7-liter V-8's, that produce over 690 hp, and speeds in excess of 195 mph. Team owners include Roush Racing, Darrell Waltrip, and Kevin Harvick. Along with being a team owner, Darrell "Jaws" Waltrip has also rejoined the racing ranks.

Considered by many to be a type of development series for the Nextel Cup and Busch series, Craftsman Trucks have produced such racers as Mike Skinner, Bobby Hamilton Jr., and Carl Edwards.
