Kyle Busch won his 2nd straight Craftsman Truck Series race in as many starts Friday in the MBNA RacePoints 200 at Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE. The 2004 Rookie of the Year in Busch Series, the younger Busch made 6 starts in the truck series in 2001 before NASCAR mandated the 18 years old minimum age limit.
A dominate Ron Hornaday ruled the race from the beginning where he lead all but 13 of the first 112 laps run and 134 of the 200 run overall. However, a critical error in the pits cost him the win with 50 laps to go. After pitting on a caution with 3/4 of the race finished, it was discovered he was missing a lug nut making it nesessary for him to pit again, losing valuable track position.
Kyle Busch was able to take the lead from David Reutimann with 19 laps to go and had to fight off another Nextel Cup Tony Stewart for the win. Rounding out the top-5 were Terry Cook in 3rd, Hornaday 4th, and Reutimann 5th. Only 13 of the 36 trucks that started the race finished on the lead lap.
The next race for the Craftsman Truck Series is the Chex 400k to be held at Texas Motor Speedway on June 10, 2005 with coverage starting at 9pm EST on the SPEED channel.
