Busch Wins the Quaker State & Lube 200

Postby acegear » Thu May 26, 2005 8:07 pm

Becoming the youngest winner in Craftsman Truck Series history, Kyle Busch shows his potential as a Nextel Cup rookie this year. At 20 years of age, Kyle surpasses the late Ricky Hendrick who won at the age of 21, which was also the same year that Kyle entered the truck scene at the tender age of 16 before NASCAR instituted the 18 years old age minimum.

Starting 3rd, Kyle Busch traded the lead several times before taking charge on the 5th lap and leading for 77 of the 136 laps run. During his pit stop on lap 60 he dropped back several places, but worked his way forward to be back in front at the end with the help of race leader Mike Skinner who spun out while trying to pass lapped traffic.

Kyle was able to hold off Terry Cook and Ted Musgrave on a final 3-lap sprint to the finish to take the checkered flag.

The next Craftsman Truck Series race will be the MBNA RacePoints 200 at the Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE on June 3, 2005.
