Kyle Busch followed in his brothers footsteps by getting his first win at Britol Motor Speedway in the Busch Series Sharpie Mini 300. Busch was the 6th different Nextel Cup regular to take the win in the Busch Series which has had some debate about the role of the upper echelon drivers in a development series.

The race began with Kevin Harvick on the pole after qualifying had been snowed out earlier. Under leaden snow-filled clouds the green flag dropped for the first short track racing of the season. However it wasn't meant to last as a virtual white-out brought out the red flag after only 32 laps. With Christmas music playing over the PA system, the crowd and crews got into the winter spirit having snow ball fights and even building snowmen on the infield. After 1 hour and 19 minute delay the sun came out and the track dried for the racing action to resume.

Harvick was the main factor in the early going until he had to pit because he thought he had a flat but it turned out to only be a large piece of debris on his tire. But his mistake led to a drop to 32nd place with 152 laps to go. With his work cut out for him, Harvick picked away at the field to move back into 3rd place after the 13th and final caution with 27 laps to go. Harvick was fighting Kyle Busch for 2nd place when leader Greg Biffle experienced a loose wheel leading him off the track and giving the lead to Busch. Harvick just wasn't able to make a move for the lead and had to settle for second.
