The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has been conducting road course races since the early 1950's. Today the SCCA boasts one of the largest racing memberships in the world with over 60,000 registered members, and over 2,000 amateur and professional events conducted across the United States. The secret to the SCCA's success is the grass roots racing development. With over 110 regional chapters throughout the country, racing progams are available for every level of racing.

The Solo series allows a racer to begin racing by only adding a helmet. No special equipment needed. Individual time trials or head to head racing is offered. Club racing is the next step up from the Solo series. Racers must complete drivers school to begin competing in this category. Racing is offered at the regional and national levels. Each year the National Runoff Championships are held to determine the national champions in 24 separate classes of competition. The Pro division offers several different types of racing that is headlined by the pinnacle SCCA SPEED World Challenge Championships.
