5 time driver, and defending IROC champion Mark Martin will headline the field for the 2006 IROC Series. Joining him will be fellow NASCAR driver and Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart, Busch series champion Martin Truex Jr, Craftsman truck series champion Ted Musgrave, former Nextel Cup champion Matt Kenseth and up-and-coming star Carl Edwards. Joining this star studded field will be 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinzer, 7 time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, IRL's Sam Hornish Jr, and Scott Sharp in addition to road racing stars Max Angelelli, Wayne Taylor and Max Papis.

This year a $1 million purse will be offered to the best driver after 4 races in the IROC series. The 1st race will be in Daytona on February 17 followed by Texas Motor Speedway on April 7, back to Daytona on June 29, then the final at Atlanta Motor Speedway October 28. It should be noted that the 2nd Daytona race will be run on the road course which is the 1st road course int he 14 year history of IROC.
