New USAC Silver Crown Car

Postby acegear » Thu Dec 09, 2004 9:21 pm

USAC has introduced a radical new superspeedway car to replace the current Silver Crown cars in 2006. A much anticipated release, the new design has brought many perspectives to the table. While considerably different than the currect cars, the new racer will retain some of the classic styling cues including the exposed upper roll cage, and the tail tank area retains the classic shape, but without the tank. The fuel cell has been moved inside the main chassis. This is just one of the new safety features incorperated into the new design. Most noticable is the new nose that extends out infront of the front wheels. In addition, side pods have been added that fill the space between both axles, taking away the possibility of interlocking wheels. The new nose, side pods, and tail will add valuable crush zones to protect the driver inaddition to adding more space for sponsorships. Even with the extra additions the body and chassis, the new car has only gained 2% in weight, which has been moved towards the front to make for a more balanced car.
