The test sessions for the 2006 Daytona 500 will kick off the new season in preperation for the 48 annual season starting race on February 19, 2006. Tests will be run in 2 groups, January 9-11 and January 16-18.

NASCAR Preseason Fan Fests will also be held during this time period with pit stop displays and demonstrations, fan forums, show cars and bands. Gates will open 9am for testing but the fan events in the NASCAR FANZONE will start at 5pm on these dates:
• Jan. 10: NASCAR Nextel Cup Fan Fest
• Jan. 13: NASCAR Craftsman Truck Fan Fest
• Jan. 17: NASCAR Nextel Cup Fan Fest
• Jan. 21: NASCAR Busch Fan Fest

Admission is $15 for the Nextel Cup dates and $10 for the Busch series and Truck series dates.

Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the test sessions for free from the Oldfield Grandstands just outside DAYTONA USA on:
• Jan. 9-11: NASCAR Nextel Cup (odd owners' points)
• Jan. 13-14: NASCAR Craftsman Truck (all trucks)
• Jan. 16-18: NASCAR Nextel Cup (even owners' points)
• Jan. 20-22: NASCAR Busch Series (all cars)
