Impound Rule on the way out?

Postby acegear » Tue Dec 20, 2005 8:49 pm

NASCAR has announced today that the number of impound races for 2006 will be drastically reduced from the number in 2005. 2005 saw 21 of the 26 races featured as impound races where the cars were impounded in the garage area of the track after qualifying until the cars were wheeled out for the start. Of course since only relatively minor changes could be made to the cars until race time the rule met stiff resistance in the garage.

For 2006 only 5 events will be featured as impound races: both Talledega races, both Richmond events, and the Pepsi 500 at Daytona.
