Ryan Newman captured his 5th straight Busch Series win in the Dollar General 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. A track record 14 cautions, and 2 red flag stops, kept everyone on their toes. But Newman was out front for 133 of the 200 laps, and kept out of trouble.
With the surface of the Lowe's Motor Speedway being "levigated" or ground for a 2nd time the speeds have gone up dramatically. As a result, tire wear has become a major issue.
Current series leader Martin Truex Jr finished the race 14th but due to the extensive damage to the top-12 in standings he finished with a good cushion in the standings.
