Kasey Kahne gives his Nextel Cup owner, and owner of the Busch Series Country Crock #6, Ray Evernham, his first win of the season in the Busch Series United Way 300 at Kansas Speedway. Kahne was able to hold off a charging Greg Biffle in a crash marred race.

The critical decision of the race came with 16 laps to go, under the caution, where Kahne stayed out on the track while the rest of the field, including Biffle, elected to come to the pits for fresh tires. However, Biffle's fresh tires allowed him to battle his way back into 2nd with 6 to go just as yet another caution came out. Both Kahne and Biffle stayed out this time and brought the field to the green with 3 to go. Biffle moved out front but Kahne fought for position. As they came into turn 4 coming to the checkered flag, they were side by side with Kahne up high. Kahne moved to the side of Biffle taking off the air on the side of Biffles' car, lossening him up and giving Kahne the chance to take the lead as they crossed the line.

Kasey Kahne's victory was by 0.03 seconds which is the 5th closest finish since electronic timing was established in 1993.
