Very sad news indeed.
BBC Sport
And to think that Martin Leob showed the utmost respect to Michael Parks by refusing to with the World Rally Championship in the mannor he would have done before gaining the 2 minute penalty is really admirable.
It is such a sad bit of news when somebody dies during any kind of sport |

It truely is a sad turn of events. I can't say that I have ever heard of a death during the WRC to a competator, although I'm sure it has happened. I am curious though, with the construction of these cars how one could be that seriously injured. Or how the driver could come away unscathed. I suppose those will be questions that will be asked over and over again as the day, weeks and months pass.

It is very rare for there to be an fatality in the WRC. It is believed that the car lost control and crashed into a tree.
If you imagine what kind of speed this car was going into a tree you might understand that its not going to be a pleasant outcome and unfortunatly this was the case.
I'm with you when you say that your heart goes out to the family. Very sad news indeed. |
