NASCAR moved swiftly to curtail the retaliation happening on the track in yesterdays race at New Hampshire International Raceway. No less than 4 teams were penalized in a bloodbath of points and fines that however harsh shouldn't affect anyones chances for next year.

Enumclaws own Kasey Kahne was fined $25,000.00 and a deduction of 25 drivers points in addition to his owner Ray Evernham loosing 25 championship points. Robby Gordon who was involved in an incident with Michael Waltrip was fined $25k for trying to drive into Waltrips car during the caution, and an additional $10k for using profanity on TV. He was also docked 25 drivers points and 25 owners points, which could impact his ability to qualify next season. Both Kahne and Gordon were placed on probation for the rest of the season with a further incident taking them out of the car for at least one race.

Waltrip was fined $10k for an obscene gesture in addition to 25 drivers points, along with 25 champ points decked from his car owner, Teresa Ernhardt. And finally, Lance McGrew, crew chief for Brian Vickers #25 was fined $10k and placed on probation for the rest of the season for their primary car failing the prerace tech inspection causing them to resort to a back up car for the race.

NASCAR has become increasingly concerned about retaliation that has happened on the track through out the season. However NASCAR has created this monster which is fed from the egos and pressures bred from huge amounts of money invested by sponsors, fans and track owners. It is up to them to decide how involved they want to become in these disputes, and how much they want to let ride so to speak. Only time will tell.
