Tony Stewart continued his dominating perfomances in grand fashion with his 5th win in 7 races as he took the checkered flag in the Nextel Cup Sirius Satelite Radio at the Glen in Watkins Glen, NY. Even a malfunctioning alternator could not keep him from victory lane.
Stewart started from the pole due to qualifying being rained out earlier in the week. Jimmie Johnson started next to him in the front row. After the green flag dropped the only thing the rest of the field could do is try to catch up. Stewart led 83 of the 92 laps run, beating the 2nd place finisher, road specialist Robby Gordon, by 1.927 sec.
