Martin Truex Jr, the defending Busch Series Champion and current points leader has stepped to the forefront in his defense of the title with his win in the Busch Series New England 200 at the new Hampshire International Speedway in Louden, NH. A sweeter than normal win in the fact that Truex considers this his home track, he was able to hold off hard charging Carl Edwards for the checkered flag.

After dodging 13 cautions for 49 laps, Truex was able to get by race leader, and Busch Series rookie Denny Hamlin on the 189th of 200 laps, and never looked back. After Truex gained the lead, he used the clean air to put space between him and 2nd place. A late race caution brought the field back together for a green-white-checkered finish, but the clean air that Truex had was just too much for Edwards to overcome.

With the win, Truex notches his 5th win of the season and 11th career NASCAR win. Rookie Denny Hamlin was able to hold on for 3rd, with Elliot Sadler 4th, and Jamie McMurray rounding out the top-5.

Next week's race is the ITT Industries, Systems Division and Goulds Pumps Salute to the Troops 250 presented by Dodge at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, CO. Race coverage begins July 23, 2005 at 3:30pm EST on TNT.
