With the rain out of the 1st practice session, the Nextel Cup drivers were only able to get one practice session in before qualifying for the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Mike Bliss in the Netzero/Best Buy sponsored #0 Chervolet posted the top lap in practice with a run of 47.510 sec at 189.434 mph. Points leader Greg Biffle was only able to post the 11th fastest time.
