Joe Nemechek lived up to his moniker by capturing the pole for the Hershey's Take 5 300 with a run of 182.542mph. This is Nemechek's 17th Busch pole and 5th at Daytona.
The day wasn't so kind to the other Cup regulars as Dale Earnhardt, Jr only qualified in 26th. And last years Busch champion, Martin Truex, Jr only did a little better at 23rd. However, last season's runner-up Kyle Busch rounded out the front row with a run of 182.216mph.
