Now a regular in NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Series, Kasey returned to the Weld Racing Silver Crown Series in 2003 and won the 100-miler at Nazareth, Pa. He also found time to post a pair of third-places in National Midget racing and was the fastest qualifier for a Midget race at Irwindale, Calif. In 2002, Kasey competed in two of USAC’s Silver Crown events. Kasey won the August race at Indianapolis Raceway Park and added a second-place finish at Nazareth, Pa. in only seven USAC Silver Crown starts in 2001. He added repeat Midget victories in the “Night Before the 500 Classic” at IRP and the “Belleville Midget Nationals” in Kansas plus other Midget wins and in October swept a Midget/Sprint Car doubleheader at Irwindale, Calif. He ended up eighth in the final National Midget standings and ninth in the final Western Midget points. One of America's brightest young talents, he claimed "Rookie of the Year" honors in the 2000 Silver Crown Series, taking 10th in the final standings and recording an impressive wire-to-wire victory at the DuQuoin (IL) State Fairgrounds. He added a third at Knoxville, IA and fourths at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Memphis, TN and claimed five "Rookie of the Race" awards along the way. He also won the USAC National Midget Car Championship in impressive fashion. Six National Midget and six Western Midget Car wins in 2000 included triumphs in the prestigious Belleville Midget Nationals, 4-Crown Nationals and Night Before the 500 Classic. The first to win three consecutive USAC Western Midget Car races since Billy Boat did it in 1996, Kasey had an incredible month of March, 2000. In early-March he made his first trip to the famed Williams Grove (PA) Speedway and not only started on the pole for the winged sprint car feature - he led every lap to win! One week later he won the 30-lap USAC Western Midget Car race on the dirt at Bakersfield (CA) Speedway. In late-March he scored back-to-back feature victories on the pavement at Madera and Stockton (CA) Speedways, passing USAC Silver Crown Champion Ryan Newman on the white-flag lap at Madera! He also started several USAC Sprint Car events in 2000 and had a pair of second-place finishes.
