Jason finally found the winners circle in the Weld Racing Silver Crown Series in 2003, winning the 100-lapper at Indianapolis Raceway Park at the end of July. He was also ninth in the “Sumar Classic” at Terre Haute, Ind. and wound up 11th in the series points. A pair of fifth-places were his best in 10 National Sprint Car starts and he had a second at Madera, Calif. among his dozen Western Sprint Car appearances. He finished ninth in the Western Sprint points and 23rd in the National standings. Jason ranked seventh in the 2002 Weld Racing Silver Crown standings and 17th in the final 2002 Sprint Car points. His Silver Crown season included 10 starts and started with a great runner-up finish behind Dave Steele in the “Copper World Classic” at Phoenix, Ariz. He added four other “top-10s” during the season. In the Sprint Cars he won a pair of races at Indianapolis Raceway Park and added a second at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The sixth-ranking driver in the 2001 USAC Silver Crown standings, Jason started every race and had “top-five” finishes at Phoenix, Ariz., Irwindale, Calif. and Richmond, Va. He also triumphed in USAC’s 2001 Sprint car return to Schererville, Ind. and was 17th in the final 2001 USAC Sprint car points. Eight starts in 2000 Silver Crown competition produced two "top-10" finishes. He was sixth in the "Dupont 100" at Indianapolis Raceway Park and eighth in the series finale at Memphis, TN. He's a nine-year Silver Crown veteran with 62 career starts. In only nine 2000 Sprint Car starts he had three third-place finishes and wound up 25th in the final standings. He was fourth at Irwindale, Calif. in the penultimate race of the 1999 Silver Crown series and he matched that in 2001 at Richmond. He started nine of the 1999 Silver Crown races and had a seventh-place finish at Indianapolis Raceway Park. A veteran of 11 seasons of USAC Sprint Car competition, Jason finished in the “top-10” in that series’ standings five consecutive years (1995-99). He captured his first feature win in the “Emge 50” at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway in 1998 and added a win in 1999 at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Named the Sprint Car “Most Improved Driver” in 1995, he finished eighth in that year’s points, then moved up to seventh in 1996 and sixth in 1997. Jason also competed in four USAC Silver Crown races in 1998 and scored a great sixth-place in the series finale at Madison, Ill.
