"The Dude" finished second in the World of Outlaws point standings in 2003, the third time in the last five years he has been the runner-up … led the points race for 45 of 67 races and exchanged first place with champion Steve Kinser five times; won his third Knoxville Nationals Championship last August … also won sprint car racing’s premier race in 1998 and 2001; became the first driver in series history to put together a clean sweep (set Fast Time and won Heat Race, Dash Race and Feature Race) in a preliminary program on August 30, 2003, during the Harvest Classic at Calistoga Speedway … winning all three Harvest Classic features was among his four multi-feature sweeps
of the season; tied his second-highest victory total in a
season by winning 11 “A” Features in 2003 (plus five
prelims); drove 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion
Tony Stewart’s #20 J.D. Byrider Eagle into the top 10 59 times, including 45 in the top five; led the series with 28 fast times, while ranking second in Dash Race victories (14), “A” Feature laps led (400) and earnings ($509,640); ranked ninth in the 2003 International Race of Champions point standings in 2003; won the World of Outlaws championship in 2001, edging two-time champion Mark Kinser by 30 points in the series' closest points race ever; received the World of Outlaws' Most Improved Driver award following the 1998 season; won the Knoxville Raceway championship seven times and has 82 feature victories at the legendary track.
