Since 1994, David Stremme has competed in seven racing divisions -- collecting three rookie titles and two track championship trophies.

Stremme earned rookie of the year honors at South Bend (IN) Speedway in the Street Stock and Late Model divisions. In his first full year of ASA competition in 2002, he earned two victories, 13 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes to secure the fourth spot in the final point standings, which garnered him the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year award.

That same year, Stremme was discovered by Cup team owner Chip Ganassi. Soon after, Stremme tested alongside drivers Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears and Sterling Marlin at Lakeland (Fla.) USA International Speedway and ran lap times comparable or faster than the Cup regulars.

Stremme wasn't kept under wraps too long, as Phoenix Racing owner James Finch and Ganassi chose him to join McMurray in a joint driving role for Team Yellow in 2003.

That season, he averaged a 12th-place finish and garnered a third-place efforts at Milwaukee and Nashville en route to the Busch Series Rookie of the Year title.

"When the season first started, my only focus was on getting seat time and learning as much as I could," he said. "As the season progressed, I started to realize that there was a real possibility I could win it. It was definitely not easy to get here, but I'm really proud that I was able to do it."

In 2004, Stremme was was originally slated to drive the full season in the No. 1 Dodge for owner James Finch. However, he was later signed to drive the No. 19 TRIMSPA Dodge for Braun Racing following a change in the business relationship between the Ganassi organization and Phoenix Racing.
