AJ Foyt was like many racers of his day and didn’t limit himself to just one type of race car. Better known for his 4 wins in the Indianapolis 500, AJ also won 7 races in the Cup series. In only his 10th start in a stock car AJ won the 1964 Firecracker 400, and again in 1965. While he only ran a limited schedule, AJ’s best cup season was in 1971 when he posted 4 poles, 2 wins, and 4 top-5 finishes in only 7 starts. His next Cup win came in the 1972 Daytona 500, becoming only the second driver, along with Mario Andretti, to pull off the winning both Daytona and Indy. In addition to that win, AJ again posted impressive Cup stats with 3 poles, 2 wins, and five top-5 finishes in only 6 starts.
